2much; 10th anniversary

short version for people with not a lot of time:

on the 02.02.2002 i registered 2much as a one-man business.. now 10 years later business is runing great and i’m very happy to have come this far.. thank you all!

people with time who wanna read the whole story:

in 2001 it seemed that the internet business colapsed. at this time i remember i was working at pixelpark in zurich as a junior designer. wow, we used to play diablo 2 all night long in the office. after some dissension with my supervisor and the massiv job cut it wasn’t easy to find any job in this branch. lucky me, i had the possibility to do an internship at a broadcast design office called regardez. funny the site still exists, although the company doesn’t exist anymore. it was a great place and i loved to work there, but in january 2002 i finished the intership and again i was jobless. i was never used to earn a lot, so after almost 1 year working at pixelpark i still had left some. i bought a laptop and all the equipment i needed, went to the appropriate authorities and registered my own little one-man business 2much. the date 02.02.02 was a funny coincidence..

i started my business at home, living with 3 other people in our 3-room appartment. unfortunately i didn’t took any pictures of that time. the 1st year was horrible.. i always had the job advertisement on my table looking for another job.

the liberty to work when, where and how i wanted to, kept me going. not getting out of the bed in the morning and working till late at night seemed to be perfect for me and my creative side, but i didn’t earn enough money to pay my bills. fortunately i still had a little something left and i made it through the 1st year.

this is how 2much.ch version 1 looked like..

i always was a big fan of sites like yugop, 2advances, webagent007, derbauer and so on.. for sure i had to have an animated website with this mecanical look everybody did at that time.

in summer 2002 i made my 1st encounter with why you should always have a backup.. i lost all my work i did so far. and so i wasn’t able to update my site anymore, i had to do a new one.. fast..

i didn’t have a lot of work, so i always changed my own site. but this version never went online..

this was the last version online done in flash.

in 2003 i moved for a about 5 months to berlin, where i kept working as a freelancer for some agency. i had to change my environment a littlebit..
2004 back in switzerland got a bit better.. still struggling to pay my bills, but less then a few years before.. in 2005 and 2006 it got better and better.. i met so many cheaters, profiteers, back-stabbers.. but also a lot of great people i really appreciate knowing them! i had many great projects and i learned a lot. in 2007 again i needed some fresh air and i moved to croatia with a friend who bought a beautiful old boat. so i continued working on the ship as a freelancer and “sailor” this was by far the most beautiful office ever!

after that trip in the end of 2007 it was time to get real serious. since my 1st day working as an independent i collected a lot of experience and made some important connections with great people. the following years got better and better and since 2010 i reached a point i didn’t even think i will reach when i started my business..
i have now great projects, can work for some very big companys and found some time to paint and create my art.

i can now focus a lot of improving my creative skills and i want to create and build more and more.

i’m not sure if i would go through all those 1st years again, but for sure i know that i would never ever change this liberty i have now. so again thank you everybody who had some kind of impact on me in those years and also for all those reading this whole text until here.. sorry for my english, i hope you got the point anyway…
